Crimestoppers

Mike Sears, a good guy and Todd Countian, is the new parole and probation officer for the county. He called the other day and said he hoped to get a Crimestoppers program similar to the one in Christian County here.

I think this is a great idea. One snag could be the fact that in Christian County the Crimestoppers offer rewards. I feel that really makes the program a success.

Could we do that here?

And would there be people out there that would help raise the money for rewards?

Tax Raise?

Many saw the public jail meeting the other night as a waste of time, but some great things came from it. First, according to a couple of officials, the Gov.'s Dept. for local government can come in and make the county meet its debt if we are unable to pay.

Now, what can they do? Well, they can make us raise taxes to a record high, among other things that I promise you don't want to think about.

Also, the estimates have been wild and many, but if the worst-case $500,000 bill is what it will take to move the ambulance then that is a bad, bad thing. And taxes will go up...

Anybody out there have any ideas?

A good buy?

So, is the building across from the high school a good place for the Ambulance and dispatch to go? And, does anyone's head not hurt because they are having to move? I mean, couldn't this have been put into the jail project?

I'm going to go lie down now...

Adult Business: Not just in Elkton

If my source is right, the county if also fair game for any adult business that might want to come here. Not only is it OK, but it could go unregulated (except for anything the state has in place).

Wow.

A place to call home

In a recent post....

MOSM said...

Instead of being a place to work, perhaps Todd County should market itself as "a place to call 'home'". Let Hopkinsville and Clarkvsille become the metro areas and Todd County be the suburb of choice.

That makes me wonder...

We are all looking for ways to help "save" Todd County from itself, would an influx of people that work somewhere else be so bad? The property taxes garnered alone could go a long way to helping the county provide better basic services.

Magistrates questions

We come to the last in our series of questions for the candidates... They won't be part of the upcoming forum (there are just too many) but what questions would you ask them if you could?

Jailer questions

This one could go on and on, but if you were the person asking the questions to the jailer candidates during the upcoming forum, what would you ask? I think a good one would be, what is the plan for the future?

Sheriff questions

What questions would you like to be asked to the Sheriff candidates if you were the moderator at the upcoming forum?
