Trenton Public Meeting

We are hearing the fur will fly Thursday (Nov. 13) at 7 p.m. during the so-called public meeting the state is putting on to hear complaints from different people about a proposed rock quarry near Trenton on the grounds of the Cherry Grove Golf Course.

The parties that are complaining the most are from the State and National Trail of Tears Association and the National Park Service (trails division). So, basically, it will be a battle between a soft, historic arm of the federal government and the state office that doesn't seem to blink an eye when whole mountaintops are removed for coal mining.

So, this should be quite a battle of wills and also a battle of preservation versus making a lot of money on a new quarry.

We have also found out other land owners around the property aren't happy either.

Regardless of the state's decision this may end up in a court battle very soon.
