No good news

Some people have said the Todd County Standard doesn't run good news and we here at the Standard take offense to that.

The only "bad news" in this week's paper would be the sheriff story. Beyond that it's good news throughout.

We have preschool classrooms earning national honors, teenagers standing up against underage drinking, band honors, Trace Industries helping others find purpose, honor rolls, 4-H getting state honors, etc. It goes on and on.

We do NOT go hunting for what people call "bad" news stories. We report the news, good or bad...

Our job is to keep the people informed and to do that sometimes we might regrettably make people mad.

Newspapers cannot help it if the news isn't all "good".

All of us have done things that we shouldn't and if someone finds out about it, then it does become "news". This "news" (dare I call it gossip?) might be spread over the table at the local coffee spot or through the telephone wires, but you can be sure that it will be spread.

If a person doesn't want to be in the headlines, then they should keep themselves out of the limelight.

I believe that the Standard has done an excellent job telling Todd County news, good and bad, since being sold to the Craig family.

You are doing a good job of covering the news both good and bad. It blows me away how many people that you have writing for the newspaper and it seems like most of them are female. I really miss Dana Long's photographs

I've recently been reintroduced to The Standard after many years away, and I'm very pleased to see real news reporting instead of the "fluff" that was always there in the old days. In the '80's there was an ambulance service strike that was on the three Nashville TV stations but the Standard didn't even bother to come out, now there are action photos of EMS at work, stories of real events - I think it's a big improvement over what existed for years.
