Can you say why you are voting?

Here is a something I've come across recently while talking to people about who they are going to cast their ballots for in the General Election on Nov. 2: Why are you voting for your desired candidate?

The answers have been varied, and at times racist and silly.

Still, despite insane Internet rumors and attack ads that stretch the truth to levels not seen in at least eight years, the public does seem to be a little better informed in this election than in the recent past.

There seems to be at least some effort for people to make up their minds on candidates. We will have an election preview in the coming weeks in the Standard, but except for the local candidates I wonder how much good it will do when it comes to electing a president or a senator?

The real question is: In the national and statewide races is there anyone out there who hasn't made up their minds already?

I am voting because it are duty and responsibility as american citizens to get out and vote.If a person does not take the time and make the effort to vote then he or she has no so call rights to complain about how are elected or appointed government leaders are doing there job.

I've made up my mind who I will vote for but I did it on my own research and asking of questions.

I was so tired of all of the negative ads and now some candidates have turned their tables and the ads are positive.

I vote because it is an American right that I don't want to take for granted.

Who ever wins the local, statewide and national elections will be the elected official that will speak for me. Even if someone I have voted for does not win, I will respect the vote outcome and the elected position that the winner holds.

While recently discussing the upcoming election with some of my fellow Todd Countians, I'll admit that I was shocked, appalled, and out-right embarrassed by some of the racist comments that were made.

I hope that this election people will get out and do the research needed to make an educated decision on who will be the leader of this great country. That instead of voting with their eyes or based upon something they heard someone else say, they vote with who they feel will be the best for the job.

Above all, I

People and voters in todd county-ky and in kentucky as a state , please tell me you are not voting against democratic candidate barack obama because of the color of his skin and racial background. The idea of voting against a person because of there racial background just shows a out right racist and voters that are voting on closed minded hate and narrow minded ideas. Here a idea vote on the real ideas and issues , and not on hate.
