Todd County on front of Herald-Leader

It could be the fact that we are the poster child for complaining about never having a politician to show up, or it could be that the Ole Town Grille has good cheeseburgers, but the Lexington newspaper has put us front and center in today's (Oct. 28) newspaper.

The story, which had the headline "As campaign rages, candidates are absent in rural Kentucky" talks with some local folks about why they feel left out of the race because no major presidential candidate has come within a 75 miles this election.

The story goes on to say that having candidates in the area would make a difference to voters and to those who might to tend to believe some of the more insane Internet rumors.

If you want to read the story go to http://www.kentucky.com/181/story/570820.html or click here.

Overall it was a good story with good coverage, but I would have rather they spent their money sending a reporter three hours to Todd County to cover something that will ultimately matter — like the fact that Todd County is the only county in the state that is going to be giving its students laptops.

Still, this election should be a hoot.

We need more political forums and events put on and sponsor by groups like tcchs or the tc-standard or democratic or republican parties of todd county-ky.The voters turn out of the events i seen this year in todd county,ky was very weak and with them being held in elkton-ky this is unexcuseable. To many voters do not take there voting rights seriously , to many take there voting rights for granted.Every voter should take the time to come out and meet the candidates and listen to the political candidates when there are political events and rallys held in todd county,ky or in near-by counties in kentucky.

We need to see are county newspaper and all area newspapers and media doing alot alot more in there coverage in political elections by placing a political article ( democratic and republican ) in each issue of there newspaper during a election year.So far are area newspapers have failed us in this area in giving us political news and candidates news coverage on the issues during election years.
